What's new in V2?

Hi, You mentioned that V2 will hopefully be released sometime in July! I thought it would be prudent to create a new thread asking about what new features will be included. So, what will be new in Fluent Ribbon Version 2? :) Thanks a lot!

Hello, Donkeycopter and anyone who would like to know what’ll new in V2.

First of all, our goal is provide more stable and customizable control. The most of controls will be reworked to improve their ‘robustness’ and behavior. The dark side of it is ‘breaking changes’. We will accumulate all changes here to allow you migrate easily.

New features:
1) ComboBox.Menu will allow to host menu items in ComboBox (see, Office2010->File->Print->Printer(combobox)->Add Printer)
2) Ribbon.Button will allow hosting Backstage (as Office 2010) or ApplicationMenu (as Office 2007/Scenic). Additionally you might set your own button with your functionality.
3) Keyboard navigation will be improved
4) New grouping and filtering approach in Gallery, InRibbonGallery and ComboBox.
And other features…

We plan new styles Office 2007 and Scenic (Windows 7), but maybe it will be just after v2.
Feel free to write your ideas

Daniel

For now the Backstage Menu is not shown above the Ribbon Tabs like in Office 2010 if you open it. Is there any chance that you implement a "show only Backstage Button And Menu and nothing else"-functionality? Difficult to express what I mean :P

Features are nice, but you already have a lot of features.  Stability is the most important thing.  Glad to hear you're focusing on that.  Don't worry about breaking changes as long as they move things in the right direction.
