I'm quite new to WPF and i'm following the documentation for fluent.

I'm blocking at the top of the 3rd page with that :

<Application.Resources><!--Attach Default Fluent Control's Theme--><ResourceDictionary Source="pack://application:,,,/Fluent;Component/Themes/Office2010/Silver.xaml" /></Application.Resources>

Visual Studio don't recognise the resourcedictionary.... and i have added the fluent.dll in the reference.. any idea ?

thanks in advance,

Any errors messages will be helpful

Are you adding in the App.xaml?

May 27, 2012 at 10:24 PM

yes, i put it in the app.xaml

<Application x:Class="VegaBanque.App"
        <!--Attach Default Fluent Control's Theme-->
        <ResourceDictionary Source="pack://application:,,,/Fluent;Component/Themes/Office2010/Silver.xaml" />

there are the two errors :

Error 1 Unable to load the metadata for assembly 'Fluent'. This assembly may have been downloaded from the web.  See  The following error was encountered during load: Could not load file or assembly 'Fluent, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=3e436e32a8c5546f' or one of its dependencies. Le fichier spécifié est introuvable. D:\Cyril\Mes Docs\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\VegaBanque\VegaBanque\MainWindow.xaml 1 1 VegaBanque

Error 2 The type 'Fluent:RibbonWindow' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies have been built. D:\Cyril\Mes Docs\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\VegaBanque\VegaBanque\MainWindow.xaml 1 2 VegaBanque

Try to move Fluent.dll to your 'bin' folder or check 'Copy Local' in properties of Fluent in your project folder 'Referencies' in VS.

no sorry, i have tried to do this yesterday.. the property "copy local" is set to "true" and the dll is in the bin directory.

Even the fluent samples don't work. there are the same errors

you can check the code there if you want :

no i don't use network drive. I have downloaded the version 2.0 of fluent, dezip it on a local drive, and then add the reference in the visual studio.

if i add between <grid> and </grid>, the buid and execution are ok

<Fluent:RibbonTabItem Header="Tab">
<Fluent:RibbonGroupBox Header="Group">
<Fluent:Button Name="buttonGreen" Header="Green"
LargeIcon="Images\GreenLarge.png" />
<Fluent:Button Name="buttonGray" Header="Grey" Icon="Images\Gray.png"

We use Expression Design primarily, however we open in VS designer too.

A little late but, for anyone experiencing this the answer is to unblock the dlls.

Since the zip was downloaded windows automatically blocks the dlls.

If downloading any zipped file:
  • You should Unblock The Zip File itself before extracting.

Good habit and saves a lot of time

  1. Right-click the compressed file, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the General tab, click Unblock, and then click OK.
  3. Extract the files from the compressed file.

More on why you should do this can be found here KB942532
