When defining the Backstage Items, is there a way to set the width of the left part of the backstage, the one that holds the commands? I find that in my case the menu items get cut off.

I found the solution in the Theme. If I change the following in the file Themes\Office2010\Controls\Backstage.xaml, it does what it should, in my opinion:

<ControlTemplate x:Key="BackstageControlTemplate" TargetType="{x:Type Fluent:Backstage}">
	<ControlTemplate.Resources>
	  <Style x:Key="{x:Type Fluent:Button}" TargetType="{x:Type Fluent:Button}" BasedOn="{StaticResource BackstageButtonStyle}"/>
  </ControlTemplate.Resources>
	<Grid Background="{DynamicResource ActiveTabBackgroundBrush}">
		<Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
			<ColumnDefinition MinWidth="107" Width="Auto"/>
			<ColumnDefinition Width="*"/>
		</Grid.ColumnDefinitions>

It makes sense, I added to issue tracker #16455 (http://fluent.codeplex.com/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=16455)
